I just finished a four day blitz to introduce my “I am not Perfect I am REAL Beautiful Campaign” …wow! So many women agree with me that the media has to CHANGE the way they portray women to sell products. The media’s approach is causing women of all ages to become sick…literally. Eating disorders, anxiety, depression, low levels of self-confidence, and chronic stress are just a few of the health issues that result from media messages urging us to be PERFECT [thin, flawless, exposing our body, & fixing our body parts to be accepted]. Let’s make a promise to ourselves that we will take a stand and start getting REAL today!!

Over and over throughout the several days of my campaign last week I repeated this message to many women. I thought it might be a good one to relate here as a health tip to STAY REAL Beautiful! I have used this technique myself and it has been effective. I only relate ideas & approaches that I have tried and had success with myself…FAST & EASY approaches are my favorite, next to the FREE ONES!!

What do you do every day to demonstrate SELF-LOVE?

These ideas might appear simple and obvious, but, I know many women feel guilty about taking time out of their day to LOVE THEMSELVES. Often it is the simplest things that are the most effective, yet we tend to search for a more complicated and sophisticated answer to our problems. But in reality, taking time to deep breathe, sip on a cup of green tea, meditate, self-reflect, relate some positive affirmations, go for a massage, or do some yoga without the guilt really does make a difference in how we feel about who we are. At the same time, doing these things will support your health and well-being on multiple levels. Best of all, these are FREE solutions to our deteriorating health and well being. The only thing we have to do is make the decision that we are important enough to take the vital time every day to insert at least one of these activities.

Here are a couple CRITICAL POINTS:

1. YOU NEED TO COMPLETE SELF-LOVE WORKOUTS on a consistent basis…, I guarantee you will not only start to enjoy these healing moments, but start to believe you deserve them. You will start to feel better about yourself and believe you are worthy…thus improve your SENSE OF SELF/SELF WORTH!

2. LIKE NIKE SAYS “JUST DO IT”: YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION. NO ACTION, NO CHANGE…IT’S UP TO YOU!!

3. MAKE SURE YOU TELL yourself while you are DOING WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO DO TO DEMONSTRATE SELF-LOVE, you choose to do it because you WANT TO PRACTICE DEMONSTRATING SELF-LOVE.

Remember:
1. CONSISTENCY
2. ACTION
3. AN AFFIRMATION OF SELF-LOVE

GET STARTED TODAY! Just 15 minutes a day…you owe this to yourself!

Every time you take a little time here and there throughout the day to stop and do whatever it is that you feel will rejuvenate your MIND,BODY, & SOUL and you will start to feel better and better!

This stuff really works…PLUS, if you can’t demonstrate SELF-LOVE to yourself, who will? At the same time, you actually role model this healthy behavior to all of the women that surround you, young and old…especially all of the young women in our lives that are growing up with tons of messages from the media teaching them that they will not be good enough unless they are thin, flawless, PERFECT and/or exposing and/or changing their bodies to and for the world in order to be accepted.

Go ahead and be good to yourself today!

This is just one example of how you can start to take time daily to feed your mind healthier messages. We are taught without consent on a daily basis from the media that surrounds us that we are not O.K….we need to take our health into our own hands and take action to counteract the continuous negative message in the media that eat away at our sense of worth and value.
